Mahabubnagar: The district administration is taking up the extensive vaccination drive from 8 am to 8 pm to achieve the target of administration of 15 lakh doses of Covid vaccine by this month-end.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar had set this target for the erstwhile Mahabubnagar during his visit to the district last week. Accordingly, all the departments are putting in a coordinated effort to achieve the target, said District Collector S Venkat Rao.
Under the initiative, the health staff, including ASHA workers and ANMs are visiting the houses from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and administering vaccines to all the eligible persons.
This exercise, which was till recently confined to commercial areas and markets, is now being taken up extensively in the residential areas. This is mainly being done targeting the farming community and workers working in the agricultural fields.
The health staff members are visiting their houses in the evening and checking their vaccination status, if any person was yet to get vaccinated, they are being administered with the vaccine.
After checking about the vaccinated persons in a house, the health workers are pasting stickers at the doors indicating that all the persons in the house are vaccinated.
To this effect, special mobilization and vaccination teams have been set up and the district officials are constantly monitoring their work, he said. In primary health care limits, where a low vaccination rate is being noticed, special teams are being deployed to expedite the vaccination.
