Hyderabad: Mahindra University (MU) signed a framework agreement with Virginia Tech and Virginia Tech India to establish the Interdisciplinary Institute for Transformative Technologies (I2T2). The initiative will bring a research center to MU campus here, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cutting-edge research.
The Centre will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary exploration, converging emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, AI, quantum computing, and frontier materials. It will focus on creating tangible solutions to pressing global issues such as climate change, social inequity, and sustainable development, while also advancing fundamental science.
MU Vice Chancellor Dr. Yajulu Medury said the Center would empower students and faculty to create transformative solutions, positioning the university as a global hub for cutting-edge research and societal impact.
Virginia Tech Outreach and International Affairs vice president Dr. Guru Ghosh said the collaboration epitomizes the spirit of global academic partnerships. “By leveraging the strengths of Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech India, and Mahindra University, we are creating an environment that fosters innovation, cultural exchange, and impactful research that transcends borders,” Ghosh said.
The partnership will also explore joint and dual-degree master’s programs and cultural exchanges. An MU chair professorship will be established to support the Center’s growth and ensure its long-term success.
