Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police Commissionerate saw a decline in several major crimes, though certain offence categories showed an upward trend during 2025.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu on Monday released the Annual Crime Report, presenting a comparative analysis of crime trends for 2024 and 2025.

Sustained preventive policing, technology-led surveillance and focused enforcement had resulted in a decline in several major crimes, though certain offence categories showed an upward trend, he said.

According to the report, murders for gain declined from 5 cases in 2024 to 3 in 2025, while dacoity cases reduced from 4 to 2. Robbery incidents registered a significant fall, coming down from 118 cases in 2024 to 67 in 2025.

House-breaking by day and night showed a marginal decrease from 633 cases in 2024 to 589 in 2025. Automobile thefts dropped notably from 1,086 to 876, and ordinary theft cases declined from 1,310 in 2024 to 1,161 in 2025, reflecting improved surveillance and anti-theft measures.

The report noted that the number of murders remained unchanged at 73 cases in both years. However, kidnapping cases saw a sharp rise, increasing from 463 in 2024 to 579 in 2025, which the Commissioner described as an area requiring focused intervention.

Crimes against women showed a mixed trend. Rape cases declined from 384 in 2024 to 330 in 2025, while dowry deaths reduced from 18 to 12. Domestic violence cases also recorded a significant fall from 1,222 to 782.

In contrast, molestation and POCSO cases rose sharply, increasing from 953 in 2024 to 1,224 in 2025, raising concern among police officials. The most significant jump was seen in bodily and other offences, which increased from 22,357 cases in 2024 to 27,342 in 2025.

The Commissioner further said the rise in certain offences was partly due to better reporting and registration of cases, indicating growing public confidence in the police.

He added that the Rachakonda Police would strengthen preventive policing, enhance community outreach and intensify action against crimes involving women and children.

The Annual Crime Report, the Commissioner said, would serve as a strategic roadmap for policing priorities in the coming year, with emphasis on crime prevention, victim protection and swift investigation.
