The fire started at the building around 9.30 pm. On receiving information, fire tenders from neighbouring fire stations rushed to the spot. The firemen are working to douse the blaze.
Senior fire department officials reached the spot to supervise firefighting operations. There are reports of LPG cylinder explosions during the blaze.
The local police cordoned off the area. The residents of nearby houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Reports stated that the fire started when LPG gas was being filled illegally into small cylinders.
