Kothagudem: The ruling Congress party has suffered a major blow in Aswaraopet Assembly constituency as nearly 50 families left the ruling party and joined the BRS in the presence of former MLA Mecha Nageswara Rao on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the new entrants stated that they had been misled by Congress’s deceptive promises and that they were better off under the previous BRS government. They pledged to work hard to ensure that BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao becomes Chief Minister again and Nageswara Rao is elected as MLA again.

The BRS constituency in-charge Nageswara Rao remarked that while Congress has a history of deceiving people with false promises, the BRS is a party that holds the people of Telangana close to its heart; under Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, Telangana transformed into a prosperous State.

He criticised the current Congress administration, stating that development has stalled as the party leaders have focused solely on personal gains. No development has taken place in the constituency over the past two years, and the government was in such a poor state that it could not even complete the projects he had initiated during his tenure as MLA, he said.

Nageswara Rao noted that from towns to villages, there has been a demand for Chandrashekhar Rao’s return, citing the mass defection from the ruling party to the BRS in the remote area as proof.

He vowed to work tirelessly to strengthen the party and protect every BRS member with the utmost care for the remaining two years. He warned that anyone resorting to intimidation would face consequences in the future, making it clear that the situation would not be like it was in the past.

The party leaders Jupalli Ramana Rao, Jallipalli Sriramamurthy, Mohan Reddy, US Prakash Rao, Sanka Prasad, Kalapala Babu Rao, deputy sarpanch Pakanati Nageswara Rao, former sarpanch Naram Rajasekhar and others were present.
