Kothagudem: District Collector Anudeep Durishetty directed officials of concerned departments to make elaborate arrangements for Sri Rama Navami to be celebrated on April 10 at Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple here. Sri Navami was going to be celebrated with the participation of devotees after a gap of two years. Hence there was a chance of a huge number of devotees taking part in the celebrations and arrangements have to be made accordingly, the Collector said.
For the past two years the public was not allowed to attend Sri Navami festivities as devotees would be allowed this time grand arrangements have to be made for the celebration, the Collector said at a meeting held here on Friday to review the arrangements. Tenders process for 17 types of works was completed and the works have to be executed on war-footing basis with an effective coordination among officials of all departments, Durishetty suggested.
Special care has to be taken in maintaining quality in free meals provided to the devotees and meetings with hotel owners in the town have to be held to fix the prices. For maintaining proper sanitation the town has to be divided into sectors with a special officer in-charge of it. Medical camps with round the clock service should be set up and steps for free distribution of drinking water, butter milk and ORS sachets have to be taken. Barricades preventing devotees from moving from one sector to other and reaching river Godavari have to be erected, the Collector said.
He wanted steps taken for interrupted power supply, set up first aid centres and expert swimmers deployed along river Godavari during the festival. The sale of liquor must be stopped during the celebrations in the town. Information centres have to be set up at Kothagudem, Kinnerasani and Bhadrachalam. Godavari karakatta railing has to be spruced up with colourful lighting. Hoardings have to be erected on main roads highlighting the temple’s significance, Durishetty suggested.
Separate queue lines have to be set up for senior citizens and pregnant women. Online sale of tickets has to be commenced within a week. Additional stalls have to be set up to distribute prasadam and talambralu to devotees. Talambralu should be distributed freely to passengers onboard RTC buses, he noted. ASP B Rohit Raj informed that the temple would be divided into 12 sectors to make security arrangements. Additional Collector K Venkateswarlu and the temple EO B Shivaji were present.
