Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation launches Project Udvasana for dignified idol disposal

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has launched 'Project Udvasana' in partnership with Loop Sustainability to facilitate the dignified disposal of old and damaged deity images and idols. The first phase begins on July 25 at designated temples across Malkajgiri, Uppal and L.B. Nagar zones.

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy on Thursday announced the launch of ‘Project Udvasana’, a joint initiative by the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) and the organisation Loop Sustainability.

A press release said the drive aimed to dispose of old or damaged deity images and idols, preventing them from being discarded in general waste or public spaces. The general public could hand over such old or damaged images and idols at designated temples within their respective zones.
The first phase of the programme scheduled for July 25 at Nalla Pochamma–Muthyalamma–Mahankali Temple (Triple-Deity Temple), Vinayak Nagar, Kalwan Bharati Enclave, Malkajgiri, in Malkajgiri Zone; Sri Malini Karigiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Swaroop Nagar Road, Amrutha Colony, Srinivasa Colony, Uppal in Uppal Zone; and Sri Karmanghat Anjaneya Swamy Temple 8-2-61, Inner Ring Road, Virat Nagar, Champapet, in L B Nagar Zone.
