Hyderabad: In a major relief to nearly 10,000 property owners in Malkajgiri area, a long-standing issue relating to the erroneous inclusion of certain survey numbers in the 22-

list has reached a significant resolution, following the intervention and follow-up of Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy, according to a press release.

The issue arose due to an apparent jurisdictional and village identification error in the Waqf property records, whereby several survey numbers actually pertaining to Mallapur Village were shown in the records as belonging to Malkajgiri Village. As a consequence, property owners in the affected areas were facing difficulties in registration and other property-related transactions.

The Telangana Waqf Board, after examining the matter, has now officially acknowledged the distinction between the survey numbers belonging to Malkajgiri Village and those belonging to Mallapur Village. In its communication dated 29 July 2026, the Waqf Board recorded that Survey Nos. 3, 103, 104, 105, 145, 146, 147 and 148 to 154 belong to Mallapur Village, whereas the other survey numbers mentioned in the relevant Gazette notification belong to Malkajgiri Village.

The Board recorded that the Commissioner & Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Telangana, had sought clarification and verification of the Waqf property list and acknowledged the representation made by Marri Rajashekhar Reddy, who had requested removal of the affected survey numbers from the 22-A prohibited list. After examination, the Telangana Waqf Board has forwarded the matter for correction of the Gazette and publication of the necessary modification in the Official Gazette.

The Malkajgiri residents expressed their gratitude to Marri Rajashekhar Reddy for taking up the issue, pursuing it with the concerned authorities and ensuring that the matter was examined on the basis of the relevant documentary evidence.
