Kothagudem: A man and his son and a daughter died when a speeding coal tipper rammed into his motorcycle from behind near Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (BTPS) in Manugur mandal in the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Amboju Krishna (35), who works in a private hospital at Manugur, his daughter Jahnavi (11) and son Amal Preetham (7). They belong to Tummalagudem of Karakagudem mandal in the district.


The incident occurred when the deceased along with his kids was returning to Manugur on a motorcycle from Domeda village in Mangapet mandal in Mulugu district after celebrating Jahnavi’s birthday on Friday at her grandmother’s place. The coal tipper was on proceeding to ITC Sarapaka from Bhupalpally. Krishna and his son died on the spot while the girl died on the way to hospital.

Government Whip and Pinapaka MLA Rega Kantha Rao, who was on his way to Manugur from Pinapaka, came across the victims and rushed to the assistance of the injured girl. He helped in shifting her to the hospital.

Inspector of Police Bhanu Prakash visited the spot, shifted the bodies to Singareni Hospital where a post-mortem was conducted. A case was registered and investigations are on.
