Hyderabad: The Market police on Sunday solved the burglary case in Nemichand Jain Jewelers and arrested a driver who was earlier employed by the shop owner. The police also recovered cash, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 39.1 lakh from his possession.
The arrested was identified as Mohd Aadil alias Arhan (28), a contract driver of garbage truck of the GHMC, and a resident of Chacha Nehru Nagar in Bansilalpet. According to the police, Arhan worked as a car driver for the jewelery shop owner Anil Jain, between 2015 and 2017, and was aware of the topography of the pawn shop and the movements of Jain.
“Due to financial constraint, Arhan plotted to loot the shop and clear his debts and have his problems solved,” said Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, DCP, North Zone. According to a plan, in the wee hours on Friday, he entered into the shop on the third floor by damaging the window grills and using hand tools broke open the wooden drawer and stole cash and jewelry. He concealed it in a garbage bin near his residence.
Following a complaint, the Market police booked a case and four special teams were formed to identify and nab the thieves. “The special teams worked out on the clues and with the help of the footage of the surveillance cameras in the shop and surroundings, identified the offender and nabbed him from his house,” the DCP said adding that the stolen material was recovered intact.
Arhan, as a juvenile was earlier involved in similar case in Market police station limits in 2011. He was also arrested by the Saifabad police in a theft case and was jailed. A suspect sheet was opened against him too. After he jumped bail in June 2018, Arhan started working as driver for the garbage lifting truck for the GHMC in Secunderabad for the last two years. He will be produced before the court for remanding in judicial custody.
