Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A man was arrested for allegedly murdering a pregnant tribal woman in the forests of Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal on Wednesday.
In a statement, Kagaznagar DSP Waheeduddin said that Kerkari Jalapathi (33) from Jaihindpur was arrested for killing Athram Sammakka (25), who was seven months pregnant and hailed from Kondapalli. He struck her on the temple with his fist before smothering her to death after taking her to a secluded place in the forests of the village on Saturday evening, the DSP said.
During interrogation, Jalapathi confessed to committing the crime as she was pestering him to marry her. He disclosed that he went to Maharashtra after killing the woman. He was booked under the SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and for murder. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
