Adilabad: A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly producing fake land documents and encroaching on land allocated to non-gazetted officers (NGOs) in Adilabad.
According to police, Shaik Arbaz was apprehended for creating and using forged land titles for 20 acres of land earmarked for NGOs at Kailashnagar in 1970.
A case had already been registered against Arbaz and four others — Shaik Shami, Syed Imran, Parveen Begum, and Shaik Nurzahan — who were arrested a few days earlier for encroaching on the same land.
During interrogation, Arbaz confessed to committing the crime to earn a quick profit. He admitted to securing house numbers from the municipality and paying property tax for the plots using forged documents.
He also revealed that he had sold house sites to Syed Imran and Shaik Nurzahan.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident under the jurisdiction of Adilabad Rural police station, another man, Goddala Srinivas, was arrested on Monday for occupying land using fabricated documents
