Hyderabad: The Mangalhat police on Saturday arrested a man, K Akash Singh (32) of Lower Dhoolpet, allegedly involved in several cases of ganja smuggling and seized 20 kilograms of the contraband from him. A Toyota Innova car was also confiscated by the police from him.
Police said Singh had purchased the ganja from Satya Teja of Vishakhapatnam for Rs 2,000 a kilogram and smuggled it to the city with the help of his accomplice Chintu Singh of Dhoolpet.
“As the police are maintaining a vigil in Dhoolpet, Akash kept the ganja in his car and parked it near a tiffin centre at Aghapura. He was planning to sell if for Rs 5,000 a kilogram. On information, the police reached the place and seized the contraband and arrested him,” Joint Commissioner of Police (West) AR Srinivas said.
