Medak: An inebriated person, who was reportedly in a state of depression, attempted suicide by setting himself on fire near Vana Durga Bhavani Temple in Edupayala on Saturday.

Mylaram Parushuramulu (45) of Surampally doused himself with diesel and set himself ablaze, police said. Parushuramlu has left his home on Saturday morning. Carrying diesel in a bottle, he arrived at an isolated place near the temple.

When Parushuramulu set himself on fire, the locals have noticed him as he was crying unable to bear the pain. Locals doused the fire but by then he sustained 90 per cent burns.

Parushuramulu was taken to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad after first aid at Area Hospital in Medak. The Police have registered a case and the investigation is on. The doctors said the chances of his survival is bleak.
