Man, daughter drown in canal in Karimnagar

According to police, Kathi Srinivas (35) and his daughter Rishita (7) drowned in the canal. While taking a bath, Rishita slipped into the water and drowned.

Karimnagar: A man and his daughter drowned in the Gayatri pump house gravity canal near Chippakurthi of Ramadugu mandal on Wednesday.

According to police, Kathi Srinivas (35) and his daughter Rishita (7) drowned in the canal. While taking a bath, Rishita slipped into the water and drowned. Srinivas jumped into the water to rescue his daughter but in vain. In a process, Srinivas also drowned as he did not know swimming.


A native of Rudraram of Ramadugu mandal, Srinivas was working in a wine shop in Karimnagar town. Srinivas along with his family members went to the canal to take a holy dip as his grandmother died recently.

On coming to know about the incident, Ramadugu SI Tandra Vivek rushed to the spot and fished out dead bodies by deploying professional swimmers.

Police began the investigation by registering the case. Dead bodies were shifted to Karimnagar hospital for postmortem.
