Hyderabad: A man died and his mother and wife were in a critical condition, after they allegedly consumed black turmeric mixed with milk in Alwal, police said on Saturday.
The man, M Naresh Kumar (30), a private employee from Macha Bolarum, had reportedly learnt recently from some source that regular drinking of black turmeric mixed with milk would prevent health issues in future.
According to the police, believing this to be true, on Tuesday, Naresh consumed the mixture and gave it to his mother Laxmi (53) and wife Sandhya Rani (27) as well. All of them started vomiting and were immediately shifted to a private hospital. As Naresh’s condition was critical, he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where he died on Friday.
Based on a complaint from Naresh’s brother Shravan Kumar, the Alwal police booked a case and took up investigation. The family raised no suspicion on the death and said he had died due to consuming the black turmeric-milk mixture. The police said more details would be known after autopsy.
