Hyderabad: The KPHB police on Wednesday arrested an ECIL employee on charges of cheating job aspirants to the tune of Rs.25 lakh after promising them jobs with a reputed IT firm.
According to the police, K Ravi Kumar (30), from Kamala Nagar in Vanasthalipuram, claimed to be a manager in the Human Resource wing of the company and informed the complainant from KPHB Colony about job vacancies in the company on contract basis. He told the complainant that the process of filling the posts was in progress and demanded Rs.6 lakh to arrange for a job. The complainant informed his friends in his village in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and they met Ravi Kumar in July at ECIL.
“He told them he would help them pass an entrance test and collected nearly Rs.25 lakh from them,” police said, adding that when they did not get the promised jobs and asked him for they money, Ravi Kumar threatened them.
Based on a complaint, the KPHB police booked a case and arrested him.
