Hyderabad: The South Zone Task Force along with Forest Department officials arrested a man on charges of illegal possession and selling of exotic birds on Friday.
The arrested person Mirza Fareed Baig (35) was a bird shop owner and a resident of Jahanuma in Falaknuma.
Police said Baig was illegally keeping birds in cages in his shop and selling to customers, which is illegal as per the Forest Act. One Shikra, one wood pecker and nine Alexandria parrots were seized from him. Baig and the birds were handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation.
