Hyderabad: Seven persons were arrested by the Kamatipura police on Thursday for allegedly killing a man over an illicit relationship on Saturday.
The arrested are Mathkati Ravi (35), Mathkati Pooja (28), Mathkati Pradeep Kumar (29), Shetkar Akshay (21), Mahesh Kumar Patil (33) and Aley Avinash (25).
According to the police, the victim, Thakur Amit Singh, was allegedly having an illegal relationship with Pooja for a long time. On different instances, the family members of Ravi, husband of Pooja, had warned Amit Singh against continuing the relationship.
A few months ago, Ravi spoke to his wife, Pooja and counselled her. The woman stopped talking to Amit Singh. Enraged over it, the man continued to harass Pooja.
“Infuriated over it, Ravi planned to kill Amit Singh. On Saturday, he asked Pooja to make a phone call to Amit Singh and call him at a spot in Kamatipura. When Amit Singh arrived, all the suspects attacked him brutally, resulting in serious injuries to him. He was later shifted to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment,” said ACP Charminar, P Chandra Sekhar.
