Man sets mother ablaze after argument in Medak, arrested

A 22-year-old auto-driver allegedly killed his mother by dousing her with diesel and setting her on fire at their residence in Yellupet village of Medak district. The woman died on the spot, and the accused was taken into custody.

Medak: In a shocking incident, a man killed his mother by setting her ablaze after dousing her with diesel at their residence at Yellupet in Tekmal mandal on Saturday.

The woman, Karre Sayavva (42), died instantly and her son, Durgesh (22), was taken into custody. Police said Durgesh, an autodriver, was living in Hyderabad and returned to the village at around 5 pm on Saturday evening. When he saw his mother talking to neighbours, Durgesh called her inside, doused her with diesel and set her on fire following an argument.

However, locals said Durgesh arrived at the home with the intention of killing his mother. She died on the spot after suffering severe burn injuries. Although police have not yet ascertained the exact reason behind the killing, there were reportedly serious differences between the mother and son. Police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
