2 persons, suspected to be behind Bidar ATM heist, shoot at bus cleaner in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A manager-cum-cleaner working at a travel agency was injured when two unidentified persons shot at him at Afzalgunj on Thursday evening.
According to DCP (east) K Bala Swamy, the victim, Jahangir, who works at Roshan Travels, was checking the baggage of a passenger who was behaving suspiciously when he noticed wads of currency notes. He grew suspicious about the cash and enquired with the stranger about it. The suspect then took out a countrymade pistol and shot one round at Jahangir before escaping with the bag.
The suspects had come to the Roshan Travels office around 3.30 pm and booked tickets for Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Around 6.30 pm, the passengers were being accommodated in a mini-bus that transports the passengers from Afzalgunj to the Bowenpally boarding point where the luxury buses start for their destinations.
“We have formed four teams to identify and nab the suspects. After looking at the footage of closed circuit cameras, we suspect these are the same persons who committed a heist at Bidar,” said Swamy.
Soon after the incident, the Hyderabad Police sounded an alert and started vehicle-checking operations and searches at hotels and lodges.
The Commissioner’s Task Force teams also fanned out in the city. The Rachakonda and Cyberabad police also sounded an alert and started vehicle-checking operations. Incidentally, there were also a couple of policemen of the Karnataka Police in the bus, who were bound for Chhattisgarh on some different work.
Jahangir is recuperating at a private hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger.
