Hyderabad: Telugu short-film ‘Manasanamaha’ receives the second runner-up award for Best Short Film at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022 ceremony held on Sunday. The flick becomes the only Telugu film to receive an award at the ceremony, apart from Allu Arjun’s blockbuster hit ‘Pushpa: The Rise’.
Directed by Deepak Reddy, the 16-minute short-film revolves around a regular love story – of how a man and a woman fall in love and its after-effects. However, what is new here is that the film has used the reverse screenplay method and the events in the film happen in reverse – starting from a breakup to the time the couple first meet.
The film also describes some very hilarious banter between a couple and what all the man has to deal with when in a relationship.
“We have all grown up watching love stories. Usually it all boils down to the same thing – either the couple lives happily ever after or just part ways for the better. Thus, I thought of giving the film a new treatment and so used the reverse screenplay. If you observe in the film, the effect has really come together very well and has also been received very well by the audience,” Deepak Reddy shares.
‘Manasanamaha’ was made available for streaming on YouTube last year and ever since, it has won around 900 international and regional awards. Moreover, the short-film also entered the Oscars qualification race last year. The makers of the film have also applied for the Guinness World Records for the highest number of awards for a short-film.
Featuring Viraj Ashwin and Drishika Chander, the film was completely shot in some famous hangout places in Hyderabad city.
“This was our first award at the national level. It is a very overwhelming experience. Having been sharing the seat with so many well-known actors like Asha Parekh, Kiara Advani, Siddharth Malhotra and many more celebrities was surely a dream come true,” Deepak shares.
