Mancherial: The bail petition of BRS district president Balka Suman has been posted for hearing on Friday.

District Court Principal Judge A Nirmala heard the arguments but posted the matter for Friday after the police sought additional time to file a counter and sought permission to take Suman into custody for questioning. Lalitha, Suman’s lawyer, said that false cases were registered against Suman. Speaking to reporters, Lalitha said she brought to the court’s notice that the police did not follow the guidelines of Supreme Court judgments while arresting Suman.

On February 18, Suman was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and lodged in the jail at the Adilabad district headquarters. A case was earlier registered against him and eight others for allegedly attacking the minister’s convoy, unlawful assembly, rioting, injuring a constable and obstructing a sub-inspector while police personnel were on bandobast duty at Kyathanpalli on February 17.
