Mancherial: District Collector Bharati Hollikeri toured Bellampalli and Thandur mandals and created awareness among farmers over crop diversification on Wednesday.
Speaking at an awareness programme held at Budakhurd village in Bellampalli mandal, Bharati opined that fertility of the soil would be affected if a single crop was raised. She advised farmers to go for alternate and dry-wet crops in the wake of the Union government’s decision not to buy paddy grains produced in the ensuing Yasangi season.
The IAS officer further said that the district administration mechanism was raising awareness among farmers over crop diversification and was encouraging the agrarian community to grow profit-making crops. She requested the public to undergo vaccination against Covid-19 in the wake of the spread of Omicron, a new variant of the virus. She stated that those who were vaccinated could get rid of the variant.
District Agriculture Officer Veeranna, Bellampalli Tahsildar Kumar Swamy and many others were present.
