Mancherial: A daily wage earner was arrested on the charges of lifting pipes belonging to Mission Bhagiratha scheme, in Dandepalli mandal centre on Monday and pipes worth Rs 2 lakh were recovered from him.
Luxettipet Inspector Kareemullah Khan and Dandeapalli Sub-Inspector T Srikanth said that the accused was Gandam Ashok, a laborer working with Mission Bhagiratha and a native of Thallapet village in Jannaram mandal.
During the course of interrogation, Ashok confessed to stealing the pipes and selling the same to 11 farmers for the past three months. He admitted that he lifted the pipes found on the premises of an office of the forest department in Thallapet village.
