Mancherial doctor, teachers collect 53 units of blood for Thalassemia patients

Mancherial: Dr Y Suryanarayana, a dermatologist, his wife Dr Chandrakala and some government teachers collected 53 units of blood for patients of Thalassemia and sickle cell diseases, by conducting a blood donation camp here on Sunday.
Suryanarayana said that many teachers and local youngsters voluntarily donated blood for the cause, following a request made on social media platforms. He stated that Vanaja, a government teacher and belonging to Tirumala Seva Samithi, a Mandamarri based voluntary organisation, and her husband Praveen played a vital role in raising the blood. He added that the blood was given to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mancherial chapter.
IRCS Mancherial district president K Bhaskar Reddy thanked Suryanarayana, Chandrakala, Vanaja and Praveen for coming forward to raise the blood for the needy. He expressed gratitude to those who donated their blood. He stated that the patients were forced to wait for blood transfusion following the decline in stocks of blood.
