Mancherial: The SRP 3 and 3A Incline, an underground mine, registered a poor turnout of miners in Srirampur on Thursday. The mine had witnessed one of the tragic incidents in this decade which caused the deaths of four miners when a portion of the roof fell on them on Wednesday.
According to authorities of Srirampur Area belonging to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the mine saw the attendance of barely 20 per cent with miners not showing interest to enter the mine. “The miners sensed the danger and did not dare to discharge the duties inside the mine. However, the turnout may go up in a day or two,” an official opined.
In a related development, Srirampur Area personnel manager Anand Rao convened a meeting with officials concerned and instructed them to take steps to extend compensation to the kin of the four miners and provide a job to one of the family members of the victims. He also directed them to recruit dependents of miners who were medically unfit and to extend statutory benefits at the earliest.
