Mancherial: Minister sets deadline for paddy procurement
The Minister instructed the officials concerned to take steps to carry out the procurement of the remaining paddy by the end of May to avoid inconvenience to farmers.
Mancherial: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to complete the process of procuring paddy by May 30.
Speaking at a review meeting on paddy procurement here, Indrakaran Reddy stated that a total of 96,000 metric tonnes of paddy was already procured as against the target of 1.20 lakh metric tonnes in the district. He said that 33 lakh gunny bags were given to the district and 270 lorries were kept available for shipping the grains. He informed that 14 rice mills were identified for milling the paddy.
The Minister instructed the officials concerned to take steps to carry out the procurement of the remaining paddy by the end of May to avoid inconvenience to farmers. He sought them to ship the paddy to the mills as per plans by following protocol of the Covid-19. He said that the government was buying the produce despite facing a financial crisis.
District Agriculture Officer Veeraiah, District Rural Development Officer Sheshadri, Civil Supplies Officer A Prem Kumar, Civil Supplies Corporation district manager Gopal, District Marketing Officer Gajanand, District Road Transport Officer Kishtaiah, and contractors were present.
