Mancherial: SC Development Minister Koppula Eshwar requested the public to make the annual three-day Gandhari Maisamma jatara, an important religious and cultural affair of members of the Rodda clan, a grand success. He also unveiled posters of the jatara in Hyderabad on Monday.
The fair will be held at the ancient and picturesque Gandhari Fort on the outskirts of Bokkalagutta village in Mandamarri Mandal from February 18 to 20. The fort is believed to have been built by a tribal king some 1,100 years ago.
Eshwar requested the devotees celebrate the fair peacefully by strictly adhering to Covid-19 protocol. He said that water from Godavari River would be brought on January 18, while special prayers will be held at the shrines of Bheemanna and Pochamma deities on February 19 and Mahapuja will be performed on February 20.
Adivasi Naikpod Seva Sangham State president Menineni Rajaiah, vice president Ganji Rajanna, members Ummadi Shankar, Tatra Bheemrao and others were present.
