Jagtial: In a filmy twist, a man attempted to kill his mother-in-law with an electric shock in Jagadevpet of Velgatur mandal.
Gagireddy Mallareddy, resident of Jagadevpet, married Padma from the same village about 25 years ago, and the couple have two children.
Some time ago, Padma went to her mother’s home following disputes with her husband. Despite Mallareddy’s repeated appeals, she refused to return to her in-laws’ house.
Suspecting that Padma’s mother, Gaddam Rajavva, was preventing his wife from coming back, Mallareddy decided to eliminate her. As part of his plan, he erected two iron rods at the main entrance of Rajavva’s house on Friday night and connected them to live electric wires.
When Rajavva opened the door at 4 am on Saturday, she received a mild electric shock in her legs after touching the iron rods. Shocked by the incident, she raised an alarm and alerted her neighbours.
Believing that Padma’s mother was behind the incident, she lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, police began an investigation and registered the case.
During questioning, Mallareddy confessed to plotting the electric shock attack to kill his mother-in-law. The police later produced him before the court.
