Peddapalli: Manthani assembly constituency bandh is being observed by all political parties on Thursday, in protest against the brutal murder of advocate couple Gattu Vamana Rao and his wife Nagamani near Kalvacherla on Wednesday afternoon.

Hotels, petrol bunks, cinema halls and other business establishments remained closed in the constituency. Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Y Nagireddy visited the murder spot and enquired about incident.

Meanwhile, BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar visited Peddapalli government hospital where the bodies of Vamana Rao and Nagamani were kept.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kumar alleged that a TRS leader, who participated in Chief Minister’s birthday celebrations, was involved in the twin murders. He alleged that the officials were trying to weaken the case to get a clean chit in the case. Kunta Srinivas, who was allegedly involved in the murder of lawyer couple, might be killed in a fake encounter, Sanjay Kumar suspected.

The BJP president wanted the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to respond to the murder. Otherwise, people would believe that the ruling party was involved in the murder case. He alleged that may influential people were behind the murder. He reminded that it was responsibility of the government to instil confidence among advocates about their safety.

Sanjay Kumar demanded a judicial probe by a sitting judge into the incident and setting up of a special bench to deal with the cases filed by Vaman Rao.
