Maoist CCM Rupesh among 208 Maoists laid down arms in Chhattisgarh’s historic surrender
In Chhattisgarh’s largest Maoist surrender, 208 cadres, including 110 women, laid down arms in Jagdalpur, Bastar. Weapons surrendered included AK-47s, SLRs, and rifles. DGP handed them the Indian Constitution and community leaders welcomed them with red roses.

Kothagudem: In what is said to be the largest surrender of Maoists in the history, as many as 208 Maoists including 110 female and 98 male cadres laid down their weapons at Jagdalpur of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh on Friday.
The Maoist Central Committee member Takkalapalli Vasudeva Rao alias Ashanna alias Rupesh, four DKSZC members, one Regional Committee member, 21 DVC members, 61 ACM level cadres, 98 party members, 22 PLGA member/ RPC members surrendered before the Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautham and CRPF officials.
The surrender of Maoists was actually scheduled to take place in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was cancelled. The surrendered weapons include 19 AK-47 rifles, 17 SLR rifles, 36 .303 rifles, one INSAS LMG, 11 BGL launchers and many other firearms.
The DGP handed over the copies of the Indian Constitution as a mark of the surrendered Maoists expressing their faith in the Constitution. They were also presented with red roses by the local community leaders to welcome them into mainstream society.
