In Chhattisgarh’s largest Maoist surrender, 208 cadres, including 110 women, laid down arms in Jagdalpur, Bastar. Weapons surrendered included AK-47s, SLRs, and rifles. DGP handed them the Indian Constitution and community leaders welcomed them with red roses.
According to Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, a joint operation has been launched early on Wednesday by district reserve guard (DRG) of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Kondagaon following intelligence inputs about the presence of top cadres of Maoists' Maad division.
"Based on a 600-year-old ritual, it is believed that the goddess 'Kachhin' bestows permission upon the 'Raj Parivar' of Bastar district to commence the Dussehra celebrations."
