A Maoist dalam member surrendered to police in Kothagudem.
Kothagudem: A dalam member of CPI (Maoist) party Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur Area Committee surrendered to Kothagudem police on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju informed that Madakam Idumaiah alias Mahesh of Karingundam village under Chintagupha police station limits in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh migrated to Telangana 15 years ago along with his family.
The family settled at Adaviramaram of Allapalli mandal in Kothagudem district. Idumaiah who worked as agriculture labourer for many years joined Maoists in January 2023 along with his relative Punem Idumaiah in the presence of Maoist State Committee member Damodar.
The surrendered naxal worked as a guard for the state committee member Kankanala Raji Reddy alias Venkanna for some time and took part in several attacks on police forces. He was vexed with Maoists ideology and wanted to live a normal life, hence quit the party, the SP said.
He appealed to the villagers in agency areas not to extend any kind of cooperation to Maoists and fight against them to protect their rights. Naxal cadres who want to surrender to police could contact their nearest police station or higher officials, he added.
Additional SP (Operations) Paritosh Pankaj, Bhadrachalam ASP Ankit Kumar and others were present.
