Mulugu: CPI Maoists killed Korasa Ramesh (28) of K Kondapuram village of Venkatapuram (Nugur) mandal in the district. This was also confirmed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh Ganpathrao Patil on Wednesday.

In a press release, the SP said that DVC, JMWP of the CPI Maoists party, Sudhakar had called Korasa Ramesh of K. Kondapuram, who was a resident of Eturnagaram mandal centre, and Kurusam Ramesh of Thippapuram village of Venkatapuram mandal to meet him. Following this, both of them reportedly went to Bheemaram village in Chhattisgarh on Monday (Dec 20).

“On reaching Bheemaram, some militia members detained and blindfolded them before taking them to an unknown place where they were kept the entire night. The next day, Tuesday, (Dec 21) at about 8:30 am, Korasa Ramesh was shifted to another unknown location, while Kurusam Ramesh of Thippapuram of Venkatapuram was freed and left at Pusuguppa village in Charla mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday (Dec 21),” the SP said, adding that they had received information about an unidentified body found near Kothapally village of Chattisgarh State. “The person was identified as Korasa Ramesh who was shot dead by Maoist after cruel interrogation branding him as a police informer,” Sangram Singh said.

“The Maoists are killing innocent people branding them as police informers if people do not listen to them or follow their verdicts or diktats and to create a panic in agency areas with the criminal objective of extorting money not only from wealthy people but also from petty business people and marginal farmers in the Agency area. The Maoists’ agenda is to deprive people in agency areas of government schemes and development,” the SP said, and appealed to the people not to cooperate with the Maoist party.

“The Maoists should give up arms and choose the right path rather than resorting to killing innocent tribal civilians,” the SP added.
