Kothagudem: Outlawed CPI (Maoist) party leaders Azad and Madhu threatening innocent tribal people in the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border villages to attend the naxals meetings, district police alleged.

A statement the office of Superintendent of Police here said the Maoists organised a meeting at Pesarlapadu in Chhattisgarh on Saturday and forced adivasis of Kondavai, Korakatpadu, Yerrampadu, Puttapadu, Burugupadu, Nemaliguda and Kurnapally villages to attend it.

Police have the information that adivasis from above villages were not ready to attend the meetings organised by the party. But the Maoists Azad, Madhu, Ramdas and Rajesh have been harassing the tribals to attend the meetings. Those who do not attend meetings were branded as police informers. The Maoist party leaders have been using innocent tribals as labourers for their activities free of charge. And looting money, rice and vegetables from.

Azad’s wife was arrested and imprisoned three years ago. Since then he along with some leaders in the party was extorting money from contractors and businessmen to spend on his wife’s bail and his personal luxury, police alleged. The Maoist party was harassing adivasis in border villages in various ways, depriving them of development in the area. Hence the residents in agency villages should not extend any kind of support, the statement said.
