Hyderabad: Molecular diagnostics company that provides personalized health solutions based on genetic tests, Mapmygenome, has won the Startup of the Year award from the Government of India. Recognised under the healthtech (special mention) category, the startup was given the award as part of the MeitY-Nasscom Startup Women Entrepreneur Awards 2020-21.
The award was given by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in partnership with Nasscom and UN Women. The application process for the awards was initiated in February and it was intended to recognize and celebrate the technical prowess of women entrepreneurs in India.
About 14 other women entrepreneurs from India were also recognized by the government for their contribution to the field of technology.
By combining genetic health profile and health history with genetic counseling, Mapmygenome provides actionable steps for individuals and their physicians towards a healthier life. It is focused on preventive health-care through healthy habits.
During the pandemic, the company – founded by Anuradha Acharya — had also launched a drive-thru Covid-19 testing facility in various places in Hyderabad and also at the GMR airport. It also launched a new product Covisafe, a collection kit for Covid diagnostic testing. CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology validated and certified the kit to be as per ICMR protocols.
