Hyderabad: Hyderabad Football Club are on a roll with an eight-match unbeaten streak going into their next clash against Kerala Blasters on Sunday.
The team from the land of Nawabs will face a tough challenge as Kerala Blasters too are in a rich vein of form – also on an eight-match unbeaten run. When these two teams clash, it will be a treat to watch for fans, felt Hyd FC coach Manolo Marquez.
Speaking on the eve of the clash, the 53-year-old Spaniard said he likes the game of Kerala Blasters. “Both teams lost only in their first game and after that, we are unbeaten in the eight games. It will be a difficult game for both teams. I like their style of game very much. They play very good football. They found three offensive foreign players that makes them more dangerous in attack. They have good Indian players too. I think it will be a very difficult game for both teams. They have a calm game even when the things are not good in the game. But we don’t change our style of game,” he said.
Hyderabad conceded a goal in the first 12 seconds in their previous game against ATK Mohun Bagan. But they rallied from the early setback to share points with a 2-2 draw. The manager is delighted with the way they played despite the setback.
“It was a very good goal with a nice combination. It is impossible to score a goal so quickly. That means we are not focused in the game. But we played a good first half. We reacted very well after conceding the goal. It was a very difficult game but we are happy to take a point from the game,” he pointed out.
Though Hyderabad FC will reach the top of the table with a win on Sunday, Marquez said he is more focused on maintaining good form than thinking about staying at the top.
“It was the first time in the history of our club that we were at the top of the tables. But any team could be in top, given the competition. Now, we have to be focused on the Kerala game. We want to continue in the same fashion. We are fighting against very strong teams in the league. There is a very thin line between finishing at the top of finishing fifth. We are happy with our show so far but it is not how you start, but how you finish. The pressure will keep increasing in the second leg. Football is like this. You have to work hard to stay in the race,” he concluded.
