Hyderabad: Soon after actors Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation on Saturday, maverick director Ram Gopal Varma made some cryptic comments on marriage and divorce, in a barrage of tweets.
He said not marriages, but divorces should be celebrated. In his usual style of mocking institution of marriage, the director said marriage is death and divorce is rebirth.
“Not Marriages, Divorces should be celebrated..Marriage is death and Divorce is rebirth💐💐💐 https://t.co/87HKdcAQ6L via @YouTube (sic),” he wrote.
In a series of tweets, he said if marriage is British, divorce is independence.. divorce is Gandhiji winning freedom. “Marriage is British Rule ..Divorce is independence..Marriage is Hitler creating war ..Divorce is Gandhiji winning freedom …
Jai #GandhiJayanti,” his tweet reads.
In another tweet, he mentioned saying, “Most marriages don’t last more than even the no. of days they celebrate the event ,and so real Sangeeth should happen at a DIVORCE event where all divorced men and women can sing and dance.”
