Khammam: A Blue Colt constable was injured in a stone pelting incident that took place during a group clash at Matkepalli village of Chintakani mandal in the district on Monday.

According to sources, the constable, Sathish, rushed to the village following a call received on police emergency number – 100 – about a clash between two communities at the village. After he enquired about the clash, he started recording the clash on his mobile phone. At that time the clashing groups started pelting stones at each other and the constable took the brunt of it. The villagers offered him first aid and later he was shifted to District Hospital for treatment as he suffered head injuries.

Chintakani Inspector of Police, Vasantha Kumar visited the village to take stock of the situation. Both the groups were summoned to the police station for questioning.

The clash erupted following a love marriage between a man and woman belonging to two different Backward Castes of the village, police said.
