Martyrs remembered on Police Commemoration Day in Khammam, Kothagudem
Khammam Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said police were performing their duties sacrificing their lives for people of the country and the police system plays a very important role in maintaining law and order.

Khammam: Police martyrs were remembered and rich tributes paid to them on Police Commemoration Day on Monday as police organised Smruti Diwas Parade at Khammam and Kothagudem district headquarters.
In Khammam, the parade and guard of honour was held at the city armed police parade ground where district Collector Muzammil Khan, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, police officers, staff and families of the martyrs laid floral wreaths at the memorial paying respects to the martyrs.
Reserve Inspector Srisailam was in charge of the guard of honour parade. Additional DCP (Admin) Naresh Kumar read out the names of 214 martyrs who lost their lives in the line of duty this year across the country.
The Collector said that it was the responsibility of societal members to remember police martyrs and take their ambitions forward. Young policemen should take the lives of the martyred policemen who have risked their lives as an example in serving the society.
Dutt said police were performing their duties sacrificing their lives for people of the country and the police system plays a very important role in maintaining law and order. The Collector and the CP asked the families of police martyrs to bring their problems to their notice.
Meanwhile, Khammam two-town CI Ramesh fell unconscious while making arrangements for Smriti Parade and he was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical care.In Kothagudem, district Collector Jitesh V Patil and Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju along with the officers, staff and families of police martyrs paid tributes to the martyrs at district police headquarters at Hemachandrapuram.
The Collector said that the sacrifice of police martyrs who died fighting against anti-social elements in the line of duty would serve as an inspiration to future generations. The police department was always at the forefront in responding to any untoward incidents. SP Rohith Raju noted that on October 21, 1959 brave CRPF jawans gave their lives in a heroic fight against the invading Chinese army. Since then, the Police Martyrs’ Day has been celebrated on October 21 every year.
The development of the State and nation would be possible only when the law and order situation was under control and Telangana stands as an example for it. Additional SP (Operations) T Sai Manohar read out the names of security personnel who died in the line of duty this year.
