BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused Congress of large-scale voter-list manipulation ahead of Jubilee Hills by-election. The party submitted evidence to the CEO and warned of court action if fraudulent votes were not removed before nominations.
Hyderabad: Stating that the ruling Congress party was orchestrating large-scale electoral malpractices ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi submitted a detailed representation to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) seeking urgent corrective action. Party working president KT Rama Rao urged the Election Commission to remove the fraudulent votes before completing the nomination process, failing which the BRS would approach the courts for justice.
After meeting the Telangana CEO here on Monday, Rama Rao told reporters that the party had documented three principal irregularities: heavy duplication (single individuals holding two to three electoral photo identity cards), a mass updation of entries on September 2 that shifted electors into Jubilee Hills, and numerous multiple registrations at identical addresses. The BRS had compiled and handed over supporting evidence to the CEO, he said. “Rahul Gandhi keeps preaching about Vote Chori (vote theft) in other States, but in Telangana, the Congress is conspiring for Chor Vote (fake votes),” he said.
Quantifying the alleged manipulation, the BRS working president said nearly 19,000–20,000 votes were tampered with in recent months, including about 12,000 deletions (of the dead or relocated) while some 7,000 fresh enrollments were suspected to be illicit. He alleged that in roughly 400 polling booths, the Congress cadre in collusion with local officials had placed around 50 fraudulent votes per booth. In extreme cases, a single small dwelling was shown with over 100 registered voters, and one household listed 23 voters, none of whom actually resided there. “We presented all the evidence to the Election Commission today. The entries were driven by a local Congress strategy to influence the result,” he charged, stating conclusions were drawn with field-level verification of the voters’ list, provided by the ECI to political parties.
BRS demanded a thorough investigation, immediate removal of illegally entered votes before nomination filings, disciplinary action and transfer of implicated officials, and clear timelines for corrective measures. The CEO is reported to have assured the delegation of action. “The party will escalate the matter to the Chief Election Commissioner in New Delhi and approach the courts if the response is inadequate. We will expose this attempt to steal the Jubilee Hills mandate,” Rama Rao declared, adding that the Congress Party was resorting to every possible misuse of power and manipulation to win the Jubilee Hills seat.
The Congress government, which claims to have no funds for welfare and development activities, was pumping in massive funds and releasing false GOs to mislead voters for electoral gains in Jubilee Hills. “The Congress is using all means including persuasion, division and coercion to influence the outcome. Ministers from across the State have descended on Jubilee Hills to misuse official machinery and government resources,” he added.
He reiterated that the Congress’s attempt to win Jubilee Hills through fraud would be exposed before the people. “The BRS will take this issue to every doorstep and ensure justice,” he asserted.
