Hyderabad: From 1G network to 2G to 3G and present 4G network, mobile wireless networks are rapidly evolving with the advent of new technologies.

Now, the next-generation mobile wireless, 5G, network is making inroads into telecommunications. While several countries have already started rolling out 5G services, India is expected to switch over to it by end of this year.

This rollout of 5G services has triggered the need for skilled manpower to work on advanced wireless networks.

To create the professionals in this new field, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation and Megam Solutions are jointly offering a six-month online, instructor-led long-term certification course on Next-Generation Mobile Wireless Networks.

The course is aimed at providing an in-depth understanding of the next-generation mobile wireless networks covering technologies such as 5G, 5Gi, software-defined networks, network functions virtualisation, and multi-access edge computing. It will enable participants to conceptualise, design, and build solutions leveraging the next-generation mobile wireless networks.

Candidates enrolling in the course will get to understand the architecture of the next-generation mobile wireless networks, network infrastructure components, protocols, and various applications of modern mobile wireless networks.

Participants will get to perform hands-on activities to develop an in-depth understanding of the various mobile wireless technologies and concepts.

The course is open to students of UG and PG engineering, MSc Electronics, PhD scholars, faculty members, and professionals from industry and start-ups.

Candidates with familiarity with the basics of networking will be preferred. Prior knowledge of wireless networks is not required.

“5G is not just a network that can provide entertainment at high speed but is one of the basic building blocks of Industry 4.0. This course is launched at an apt time wherein, we anticipate employment opportunities with this skill set, in large numbers, in the near future,” said Prof. V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, and Course Coordinator, IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation.

The registrations for the course are underway and the last date to apply is February 8. The six months online programme will be conducted on alternate weekends commencing on February 12.

Interested candidates can register through the https://www.pravartak.org.in/next-generation-mobile-wireless-networks.html.
