Hyderabad: McDonald’s India partnered with FMCG company ITC to add a differentiated fruit beverage, B Natural to its Happy Meal, which will be available across all McDonald’s restaurants in South and West India, primarily catering to children in the age group of 3-12 years.
Arvind RP, director, Marketing, McDonald’s India (West and South) said, “Happy Meal is a global product. We have redesigned the product in India by adding ITC’s B Natural Mixed Fruit and a cup of hot corn to make it more nutritious. It will be available both at dining and through deliveries.”
He added, the delivery segment has grown significantly, contributing to almost 40-45 per cent of overall sales in the last 18 months backed by McDonald’s own digital platform as well as partner platforms Swiggy and Zomato.
Sanjay Singal, COO, Dairy and Beverages, ITC, said, with consumer-led and science-based products as offerings, B Natural has been reinventing the fruit beverage category with the introduction of beverages that are not made from concentrate, artificial colours, and preservatives. B natural’s product has a shelf life of six months.
The partners believe there is ample scope for both the companies to look at more product offerings jointly in future as well.
B Natural’s Mixed Fruit beverage is made from fruit pulp, puree & juice of six Indian fruits. It is a source of Vitamin A and Vitamin C and contains no added sugar or preservatives. Three years back, McDonald’s launched its Good Food Journey initiative by reengineering its existing menu to make it more nutritious.
McDonald’s made some significant alterations to its menu such as reducing sodium content by 20 per cent in some of its products, reducing oil content in its mayonnaise, making its patties 100 per cent preservative free, and introducing the option of whole wheat buns.
