Warangal: Contrary to the expectations by the officials and priests of the Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka tribal shrine, the jatara earned Rs 11, 45, 34,707 income as the counting of the offerings was completed here on Monday. The income is less by Rs 20 lakhs than that of the previous Maha-Jatara held in 2020. Meanwhile, 631 gram of gold and 48.35 kg of silver and coins worth Rs 37 lakhs were offered by the devotees. As many as 816 devotees have submitted Rs 3.04 lakh to the Goddesses Sammmakka-Sarakka through the e-hundi made available during the jatar for the first time this year. In the previous jatara (2020), the Hundi income was Rs 11.64 core, and the gold was 1.63 kgs, and sliver was 53.45 kgs. While 502 Hundis were set up in 2020, the number was increased to 517 this year.

But there is a shortfall of Rs 20 lakhs this year,” said an official, and added that the income would be shared 33:67 ratio between the Koya priest and the Endowments department of the State government. There are a total of 13 priests of the Sammaka- Sarakka tribal shrine. The income 33 per cent of the income would be shared equally among the 13 priests, sources said. It may be added here that the counting of the offerings commenced on Feb 24 at the TTD Kalayana Mandapam in Hanamkonda by the Endowments department staff and members of the voluntary organisations amidst tight security arrangements.
