Hyderabad: Ithaboina Babu, Sarpanch of Pudoor Gram Panchayat in Medchal Mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday afternoon at Oorjitha Hills open plots venture when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.5 lakh as an advance from a complainant S. Srinivasa Rao of Old Alwal for doing an official favour.

Babu allegedly demanded bribe to get permission for construction of a farm house in the complainant’s land in Poodur village. Initially, Babu demanded the bribe of Rs.10 lakh and reduced it to Rs.9 lakh to be paid in installments.

The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount of Rs.5 lakh from Babu’s car. They produced him before the special court for ACB cases after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
