Karimnagar: Medical students hailing from Huzurabad and Choppadandi constituencies, who were struck in Ukraine due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, arrived safely at Hungary. They would be taking a special flight back to India shortly, reports indicated.
Kadari Sumanjali of Ramachandrapur in Ramadugu mandal, Nikhil Reddy of Huzurabad town, Saivardhan of Kandugula village Pavan and Sainath Reddy of Saidapur mandal were stated to have reached Hungary.
The students sent messages to their parents detailing how they reached Hungary and how they faced severe hardships after being forced to spend days in bunkers as Russia began shelling civilian areas too.
It may be recalled here that Sumanjali along with her friends Ramyasri, N Srinidhi and Likitha rushed the Kyiv airport from the hostel one day before the war as university authorities left the choice to students whether to return to their own counties.
But to their ill luck, the airport was closed by the time they reached it. They were stranded outside the airport and the war began. Later, they were shifted to a bunker where Sumajali and her friends faced severe hardships due to lack of food and other basic facilities.
At 4 pm on Monday, Sumanjali along with others left Kyiv in a train and reached Romania from where they reached Hungary. Sumanjali is studying MBBS in the fifth year.
