Karimnagar district is witnessing a sharp decline in groundwater levels, with several borewells drying up and concerns growing over drinking water availability and irrigation. Officials warn that inadequate monsoon rainfall could worsen the situation, affecting agriculture and reservoir inflows.

Severe heat wave conditions have disrupted normal life across the undivided Karimnagar district, with temperatures crossing 46 degree C in several places. Six persons reportedly died amid the extreme weather, while trade unions sought revised work timings in Singareni mining areas.

Karimnagar Commissionerate police arrested six men involved in a series of thefts across rural areas, recovering property worth Rs 20 lakh. A fireman in Karimnagar, Manohar from Durshed village, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide, alleging harassment by senior officers Pawan and Kishan at Choppadandi fire station. Friends rushed him to hospital, where he is now undergoing treatment.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Ministers and recent BRS defectors, were absent from the second phase of the Janahitha Yatra in Choppadandi. While party sources attributed some absences to official meetings, others were linked to pending legal matters.

BRS workers, led by Choppadandi in-charge and former MLA Sunke Ravishankar registered the protest by sitting on the main road. They raised slogans against the State government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Based on BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s call for Statewide celebrations, party leaders and activists celebrated the event.

The accused also warned to kill him, after which the legislator lodged a complaint with Kothapalli police, who began investigation by registering a case under Sections 308, 351(3), (4) of BNS.

Besides presenting new clothes, BRS leader and former MLA Sunke Ravishankar and his family members had lunch with children at his residence in Burugupalli of Gangadhara mandal on Sunday.

Nakka Anil from Balvanthapur, Mallial mandal of Jagtial district, wrote on the number plat of his vehicle stating that “Medipalli Satyam Choppadandi MLA Thaluku”.

The power crisis started within three months of the Congress party coming to power, he said.

The incident occurred when a speeding car hit a two wheeler from the opposite direction near Siddhartha School at 3.45 pm.
