Midnight earthquake of 3.9 magnitude triggers panic on borders of Maharashtra, Telangana

Border areas of Maharashtra experienced mild tremors late on Wednesday night after a 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Mancherial at a depth of 10 km. No casualties or property damage were reported, though residents rushed outdoors in panic.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Parts of bordering areas in Maharashtra felt tremors on Wednesday night, triggering panic among local residents.

People living in several parts of Sironcha and Ahiri in Gadchiroli district said they experienced tremors around midnight. They came out of their homes fearing their houses would collapse due to the earthquake.


Utensils fell off tables due to the impact of the tremors, they said, adding that they could feel the ground shake. No casualties nor property damage was reported.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake measured a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter Scale, at a depth of 10 km in Mancherial at 11.49 pm. The exact location was 109km north east of Karimnagar, according to a post on the Centre’s X handle.
