Hyderabad: Tension continues to simmer in Malkajgiri a day after a clash between Bharatiya Janata Party workers and supporters of TRS legislator Mynapally Hanumantha Rao during Independence Day celebrations.
Several workers of the BJP were taken into preventive custody when they tried to lay siege to the legislator’s house. Police said that when they were stopped, women workers of the BJP hurled eggs at the house. The police, who were present in huge numbers in the Malkajgiri constituency in view of the bandh call by the BJP, shifted the BJP workers to Shamirpet police station.
BJP workers including former MLC N Ramchander Rao protested at the police station. Senior police officials are monitoring the situation in Malkajgiri to prevent any trouble.
